To the players who have, quite brilliantly and professionally, posted on behalf of our community on Minestatus - THANK YOU. I would not solicit such help from anyone other than mods/admins, but you few who have stepped up so far (and you know who you are), to this point are being respectful, and trying to remind the players that it's the server quality and the player experience that counts. So many people are caught up in the mess of voting. Voting doesn't really matter - all we're trying to do by getting more votes, is open up the possibility for more newer players to easily find us. I think it's a great way to expand the community and we've definitely brought a new, unexpected edge to the Minestatus crowd. The problem is, however, some people get so satisfied with the "status quo" that they can't stand the fact that sometimes, somehow, things change. Popularity shifts, and opinions sway. While some of these communities have been extremely unprofessional, brash, and downright disrespectful - I am more than thankful, grateful, and quite pleasantly surprised that we have had a number of you step up to the plate and defend this awesome community. I won't acknowledge personal thanks, because this is an issue that our community at large may not have been aware of. For the few of you who have paid particularly close attention and decided to say your part in a respectful manner - THANK YOU. It is an honor to be a member of such a community that prioritizes the entire point of why we play games: Let's have some fun. There's no sense in bashing other people for wanting to have fun on their own servers, so if you read this and feel motivated to check out our page on Minestatus, please keep your comments positive and respectful to our community as well as the other communities and servers. If you don't wish to endorse us, you don't have to. We would never force a player into this situation we're in, but again I must thank the few of you who decided to step up. Thank you all, and it is an honor to be one of the administrators of this community.
But where's the part where you ask for money? Jokes aside, I would also like to thank the individuals who have provided their honest opinion of the server. It means a lot for us, thank you!
Good job ya guys, every other Minecraft Server Communities's are really pissed off because of our position! So great that we have a community that cares. Thanks ya guys!
the way you worded that makes it sound like a good thing... In all honesty I just wish that we could have some sort of partnership with other servers (not necessarily on the front page) and maybe do some inter-community games. Kind of like what we did with our TF2 highlander matches. Hell I wouldn't mind a WDZ vs. *insert server here* mini game match or PvP. Or maybe even another game other than minecraft (starcraft 2 anyone?). Someday, maybe my dream will come true.
I finally went and voted. not because I felt like I "had to" but becuase the time I have spent on the minecraft server was very fun. I will also continute to vote because i honestly feel that it "is" the very best thats out there right now, and if it wasn't I wouldn't vote. I was amazed at how butthurt other people seem to be about this server being on top of the list. I completely agree with the statement that super posted in the comments. As a minecraft player I vote for our server hands down. Not because I was asked ot felt pressured, but because it's my opinion that it is in fact the best server out there, and as such i would like to pass my opinion onto other players who might get a chance to enjoy WDZ minecraft as well. =) This was my post.. I have to say that I have played Minecraft for quite some time now. I have played on many servers but the PVP survival server that WDZ runs is by far the very best out there. I have never met a more dedicated community, players and admins before in my life. Trust me if your into Minecraft you really need to stop by and see why this server is the king. You will not be dissapointed I promise! Have fun and hope to see you there!! =)
Lol in all honesty I only found out that they are jelly of our position by looking at the comments on our minestatus page.
Hey is our Minecraft server the only server that uses RAM disks? SuperRawr Said that... As I remember we allocated 20gb of that ram for the Map File and 4gb to run the server. Wonder, have we upgraded since then?
I was going to post except that we can only say the same thing, so many times Not to mention that although if I want to I can be very professional, I would want to argue and cuss them out. I will however, not do that.
Also, this thread is awesome. No, you got it backwards. At a 3,500 x 3,500 world, we're at a constant 936MB for the region files. I have allocated 1.2GB for the RAM disk, to allow player data files to be created, and not have to worry about it (probably forever, unless we expand again). The rest is allocated for the server, at least 22GB is, leaving 500MB for a temp server and 300MB for the OS (not Windows LOL).
I Seriously need a banner like Spork's. Anyways since last night Super-Earth Superseded us in the Minestatus Rankings I checked on their Forums and saw that some of their members voted over 400 times. At least we got some new people who might play on our own server. That's all that matters anyway.
As long as we keep it on the 1st page were guaranteed that new blood will find the server, and some of them will become regulars. I'm going to continue to vote in the morning when I wake up and before I goto sleep without fail.
